Be a World Changer! In 2030, the world will remember. There was a collaborative project for a better future. SDGs were achieved by YOU, the world changers! What are your dreams for a better world? Which global issues do you want to solve? VANK and KOICA have decided to design this postcard set to encourage Koreans to take the initiative to build a better world. Now, we aim to complete a ‘happy planet’ puzzle. We need to gather and put together the pieces of our dreams to make a better world. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are our common goals to solve important global issues. Pursue your dreams and careers with these goals in mind. Your dreams are the pieces that will solve various global issues, such as poverty, educational inequality, disease, human rights violations, and environmental problems, and create a better earth for the seven billion people of our world! [1] What is SDGs Have you heard about SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)? In September 2015, world leaders gathered at the UN and adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to solve global issues and build a better world by 2030. SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 specific targets to address critical global issues, such as poverty, educational inequality, disease, human rights violations, and environmental sustainability. SDGs take collaborative, inclusive, and universal approaches to development, leaving no one behind. [2] Career for SDGs Dream for a better world! When you use your talents and strengths to help achieve SDGs, we can build a better world together. You can bring more happiness to the people of the world by using your abilities to participate in development cooperation around the world. Plan your future to help achieve SDGs and contribute to global growth and prosperity. You can change the world! [3] Politics & Administration Dream for a better world in the field of politics and administration! When we all work together individually, nationally, and internationally, we can achieve SDGs. To achieve these goals, we should establish systems and policies that support universal human and civil rights, regardless of nationality, race, ethnicity, and class. [4] Business Dream for a better world in the field of business! When we neglect jobless growth, widening inequality, and environmental destruction, we cannot build a sustainable future. Economic and environmental sustainability requires close collaboration between employers and employees, and consumers and communities. Entrepreneurs should provide decent work and livable wages for everyone, and adopt sustainable manufacturing practices for the environment. CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities are the key to build a better world. [5] Culture Dream for a better world in the field of culture! We should pay attention to and preserve endangered cultural and historical heritage around the world. SDGs include initiatives to recover heritage that was damaged or lost during disasters and wars. By connecting such heritage with tourism, we can help create jobs and develop local economies. Act on your interests in culture and history to create a better world. [6] Education Dream for a better world in the field of education! Education changes people’s lives and nurtures talent for the future. Education should not be a privilege. Everyone deserves quality education. Primary education empowers children to pursue their dreams, vocational training allows them to escape from poverty, and global citizenship education leads them to participate in building a better world. [7] Health Dream for a better world in the field of healthcare! All men and women have a right to live healthy lives. Health is threatened by many factors, such as communicable and non-communicable diseases, drug abuse, and traffic accidents. Healthcare professionals can help build a healthier world by preventing and controlling disease. Healthcare services should be extended to the most vulnerable. By ensuring healthy lives for all, we can have more people to work together to build a better world. Pursue your passion in the medical and pharmaceutical professions, and help us build a healthier world. [8] Agriculture Dream for a better world in the field of agriculture! Agriculture is directly connected to our lives. Over a billion people still live on less than $1.25 a day and many still suffer starvation. Farmers can help improve global food security and end poverty by developing sustainable agriculture systems and techniques. Pursue your interest in agriculture, and help us resolve global poverty and ensure well-being for everyone. Your hard work will enable us to achieve SDGs. [9] Science& Environment & Technology Dream for a better world in the fields of science, environment and technology! Scientific and technological advancement provides a practical means to manage many global issues, such as disease, poverty, and pollution. Appropriate technology enables the disadvantaged to solve their daily life problems and free them from excessive work, enhancing their quality of life. Also, development of renewable energy for the conservation of terrestrial and marine ecosystems will enable us to protect the environment and sustainable development. Use your knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development for a sustainable future. [10] Media Dream for a better world in the field of the media! To achieve our common goals, we need to communicate with people from all over the world. Inform people about SDGs and get them involved in our collaborative efforts by turning their indifference into interest. All change starts with you, at your fingertips. Freedom of expression and active communication are essential to build a better world.
