창덕궁 주합루

창덕궁은 1405년 지어진 조선의 궁궐로, 자연 지형을 살린 배치가 아름다워 1997년 유네스코 세계유산에 올랐다. 주합루는 정조가 1776년 후원에 세운 2층 건물이다. 1층에는 왕실 도서관인 규장각을 두어 책과 왕의 글을 보관했고, 2층은 열람 공간으로 썼다. 부용지 북쪽 언덕에 자리한다.

EnglishChangdeokgung is a Joseon dynasty palace built in 1405. Praised for the way its buildings embrace the natural terrain, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Juhamnu is a two-story building set up by King Jeongjo in the rear garden in 1776. The first floor held Gyujanggak, the royal library, storing books and the king's writings, while the second floor was a reading space. It sits on a hill north of Buyongji Pond.
