수원 화성 서북공심돈

화성은 18세기 말에 세워진 경기도 수원에 있는 성곽이다. 한국의 전통적인 축성술에 당시 동서양의 축성술을 집약하여 만들었으며, 1997년 유네스코 세계유산으로 등재되었다. 서북공심돈은 화서문 옆에 세운 망루로, 치성 위에 벽돌로 3층을 쌓고 꼭대기에 누각을 올린 화성만의 독창적인 시설이다.

EnglishHwaseong is a fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, built in the late 18th century. It combines traditional Korean fortress-building techniques with those of both the East and the West, and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Standing beside Hwaseomun Gate, this three-story brick watchtower topped with a pavilion is a structure found nowhere else in Korea.
