창덕궁 돈화문

창덕궁은 1405년 지어진 조선의 궁궐로, 자연 지형을 살린 배치가 아름다워 1997년 유네스코 세계유산에 올랐다. 돈화문은 창덕궁의 정문으로, 지금 남아 있는 궁궐 정문 가운데 가장 오래된 목조 건물이다. 다른 궁궐 정문이 세 칸인 것과 달리 돈화문은 정면이 다섯 칸으로, 규모가 크고 위엄이 있다.

EnglishChangdeokgung is a Joseon dynasty palace built in 1405. Praised for the way its buildings embrace the natural terrain, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Donhwamun is the main gate of Changdeokgung and the oldest surviving wooden palace gate in Korea. While other palace gates have three bays, Donhwamun has five across the front, giving it a large and dignified appearance.
