[2장] STORY 5 Meaning of 1951 Treaty of Peace With Japan
Treaty of Peace with Japan
- Article 2 (a) -
Japan recognizing the independence of Korea, renounces all right, title and claim to Korea, including the islands of Quelpart (Jejudo), Port Hamilton (Geomundo) and Dagelet (Ulleungdo).
(Japanese flag speech bubble) Dokdo does not appear in the treaty because Dokdo is Japanese territory!
However, the article is regarding more than 3000 Korean islands, and 3 names are only some examples among those.
[3장] Moreover, the Allies of World War II already recognized Dokdo as the Korean territory.

The training was notified only to Japanese fishermen, causing multiple casualties in Korean fishermen.
[5장] In 1952, Dokdo was bombed again three times.
Fortunately, there was no casualty, but several people near Dokdo, including the Dokdo research group, were in danger.
When many witnesses testified and protested about the bombings, the US army only partially acknowledged the incident, stating that it was an accident that stemmed from a mistake.
[6장] Japan deliberately guided the US army to designate Dokdo as the bombing training area.
It was to design evidence that Dokdo is Japanese territory.
[Yamamoto Toshinaga, a Diet member from Shimane Prefecture] If the vicinity of Dokdo is designated as a practice area, it would help Japan get confirmation of its territorial sovereignty over the island. Is this what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends?
[Ishihara Kanichiro, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs] It seems that things are sought after in various ways largely from such an idea.
