Hunminjeongeum Manuscript
EnglishThe Hunminjeongeum Manuscript is a guidebook explaining Hangeul, Korea's own writing system, published in 1446 when King Sejong the Great (1397-1450) of the Joseon Dynasty officially introduced it. The book explains why King Sejong created Hangeul for the people, along with the scientific principles behind its design, which was based on the shapes of the mouth and tongue when making sounds. Hangeul is easy to learn. It allowed Korean people to fully write down their spoken language, bringing Korean culture to a new level. - Photographed at the DDP exhibition in June 2017
