수원 화성 화홍문

화성은 18세기 말에 세워진 경기도 수원에 있는 성곽이다. 한국의 전통적인 축성술에 당시 동서양의 축성술을 집약하여 만들었으며, 1997년 유네스코 세계유산으로 등재되었다. 화홍문은 성벽이 수원천과 만나는 곳에 세운 북쪽 수문으로, 일곱 칸의 홍예 위에 돌다리를 놓고 그 위에 누각을 지었다.

EnglishHwaseong is a fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, built in the late 18th century. It combines traditional Korean fortress-building techniques with those of both the East and the West, and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Hwahongmun stands where the wall meets the Suwoncheon Stream, with a stone bridge laid over seven arches and a pavilion raised above it.
