창덕궁 Seoul 서울 Changdeokgung is one of the palaces of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). It is famous for its well-preserved buildings, varied pavilions, and beautiful rear garden called Biwon (Secret Garden). Changdeokgung was included on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1997. 수원화성 Gyeonggi-do 경기도 Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage registered in December 1997 along with Changdeokgung Palace. The solid and gigantic fortress was under construction for two years from 1794 to 1796 as part of the effort of 22nd King of Joseon Dynasty, King Jeongjo, to develop a new metropolis. The fortress is highly regarded and respected among world-famous historians and archaeologists for the solidity and beauty. 에버랜드 Gyeonggi-do 경기도 Everland is the biggest theme park in Korea and features a zoo, amusement park, global village, botanical garden, superb wooden roller coaster and a host of other attractions. Located only an hour away from Seoul, Everland is crowded with families, friends, and couples on weekends. It is also famous for having various festivals all four seasons. 보령머드축제 Chungcheongnam-do 충청남도 The Boryeong Mud Festival is one of Korea’s best-known local festivals. It is held every July at Daecheon Beach. Many foreign tourists and Koreans gather and enjoy the various mud-related activities such as mud sliding and pottery. 전주한옥마을 Jeollabuk-do 전라북도 Jeonju Hanok Village has approximately 800 hanoks, traditional Korean-style house. It is famous for allowing visitors to experience the Korean traditional culture in the midst of the fast-changing cities. Being a truly traditional historical site, there are places for experiencing traditional Korean life style (food, clothing, house) and herb medicine, making Korean paper, learning Korean music, etc. It is the best place to experience traditional Korean culture. 불국사 Gyeongsangbuk-do 경상북도 Built approximately 1500 years ago, Bulguksa Temple is not only a landmark historical site of Gyeongju but also a world-class historical site as UNESCO World Heritage along with nearby Seokguram Grotto. The temple’s beauty and the aesthetic value of stone relics are acknowledged worldwide. 용평리조트 Gangwon-do 강원도 Gangwon-do province has high mountains and cold climate with quality snow, which makes it perfect for skiing. It has many ski places such as Yongpyong Ski Resort, High 1 Ski Resort, Phoenix Park, Vivaldi Park, Hyundai Sungwoo Resort, and Gangchon Resort. In particular, Yongpyong’s ski slope boasts its longest slope and fine facilities. 독도박물관 Ulleungdo 울릉도 An hour away from Ulleungdo, Dokdo is a rocky island that has a special meaning to Koreans. Dokdo Museum has diverse collection of relics related to Dokdo and the East Sea. The cable car in front of the museum takes passengers to Ulleungdo Observatory making this site even more attractive. 성산일출봉 Jeju-do 제주도 Jeju Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a volcano that exploded under the sea 100 thousand years ago, connected to the land but seems as though it is just a crater on the sea. Located on the east edge of the beautiful island Jeju, it is a famous sunrise watching site as well. It was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2007. 해운대 Busan 부산 1.5km long and 30~50m wide Haeundae Beach is a clean and huge beach that can accommodate up to about million of peoeple. The beach represents Busan, a port city and the second largest city of Korea, and is famous for fine sand that is trimmed through long years of weathering. In the summer, tens of thousands of people gather in the area. Dalmaji Hill near the beach is well known for its beautiful scenery, and was even selected as one of the Korea’s eight best scenery sites.
